SADP Scheme

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India has launched a programme styled as Special Area Demonstration Programme (SADP) under which inter alia the world heritage sites would be extended financial support to demonstrate renewable energy systems. The philosophy of the SADP scheme is to demonstrate the use of renewable at prominent places in the country.

WBREDA intended to take up implementing Special Area demonstration Project scheme in West Bengal. In this connection, a meeting was held with MNRE, Government of India in presence of the Hon’ble Minister In-Charge for Non-conventional Energy Sources, Government of West Bengal on 11th July, 2011.

It has been decoded that WBREDA would prepare project proposal for following heritage sites in west Bengal.

Belur Math

WBREDA, in the mean time submitted proposal for (i) Assembly House of West Bengal, (ii) Writers Building, (iii) Saheed Minar (iv) Santiniketan and (v) Dakshineswar Kali Temple. In the mean time except Dakshineswar Kali Temple, all four projects have been sanctioned. The other projects are yet to be prepared.

In order to go ahead with the project, WBREDA already intimated the matter to the Heritage Committee of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, The committee has approved the proposal. In order to select the site, WBREDA has requested the Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Public Works Department and the Chief Government Architect.

After finalization of installation sites, tendering process would be started.
