Geo Thermal

In West Bengal, there is a thermal springs at Bakreswar from where thermal water is discharged. It is found that in the said spring computed base temperature is likely to be 110°C as determined by silica thermometry. From this thermal spring necessary action is being taken for generation of electricity. In West Bengal, this type of thermal spring may be available in other areas, which can be tapped for generation of power. MNRE, Govt. of India has taken initiative to utilise this thermal spring for above purpose.

MNRE, Govt. of India has constituted a core committee for framing up of Geo Thermal Policy in India. M/s. Thermax will start study. Expression of interest will be invited shortly.
